Remembering Margaret
Margaret Wood, a former member of the Charlotte Piano Teachers Forum and a true minister of music, went home to be with the Lord on June 5, 2006.  At age nine she played piano for church, and she continued using her talents for God until the very last day.  A member of Metropolitan Music Ministries' Board of Directors, she had enjoyed a career that witnessed the fruits of her musical skills, dedicatino to serving others, and her devotion to God.  As a public school music teacher, private piano teacher, and church pianist and organist, her music touched hundreds of lives.  In the Metropolitan Music Ministry, she often made her way to nursing homes to perform music that delighted listeners.  Many times she also brought along some piano students as well.

The last two years of her life brought serious serious illness and gradual decline, causing a struggle for her to remember the names of her dearest family members.  Her final months were spent in a nursing home.  In spite of overwhelming health issues, she found her way to the piano several times a day and played music that comforted her and all who were nearby.

One day in May, I was talking on the phone with the activity director at that facility, and I heard piano music in the background.  I recognized the lyrical touch of my friend.  She was playing a concert arrangement of "Great is Thy Faithfulness."

Thanks be to God for Margaret Wood, for her gentle and gracious manner, her lovely presence among us, and her music which surely gave us a foretaste of Heaven!
