Glenda Warren is a teacher, pianist, singer, choral conductor, and organist dedicated to empowering others through music and the arts.She teaches piano, voice, theory, and ear training in her home studio to children and adults.An active member of the Charlotte Piano Teachers' Forum, she served that group as President from 1999-2001.She has a particular interest in and love for teaching the special-needs child, and has experience teaching children with Autism, ADHD, ADD, PDD, cerebral palsy, and other conditions.Her teaching philosophy centers around developing the love of music in each student so they are able to reap all the wonderful benefits of music study.She has over 30 years' experience in teaching both children and adults, and delights in watching them grow and learn.
In addition to her teaching, she was a facilitator for a successful program in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools called Music! Words! Opera! sponsored by Opera Carolina in which children create and perform their own original story as an opera.Additionally, she has served as Director of Music in several area churches, including South Mecklenburg Presbyterian, and was a member of the music staff at Myers Park Presbyterian for 16 years, where she served as Soprano Section Leader and Co-Director of the Youth Choir.A former member of the Singers of Renaissance and Carolina Choral Artists, she has soloed in many major works such as Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, and others with orchestra.In addition, she sang in over 20 different operas with Opera Carolina and performed a small role in a production of Madama Butterfly.
After obtaining degrees in Music Education and Church Music, she continued applied study at the graduate level at Winthrop University.She resides in South Charlotte with her husband, Dick Green, and her son, Will, a sophomore at Ardrey Kell High School, who is a trumpet player in the marching band.The family would not be complete without their cat, Leo, who serves as official Studio Cat and Student Greeter.
