I have taught piano for over thirty years, after graduating in Piano Performance with a Bachelor of Music from LSU and an MFA from Tulane University. The majority of my teaching has been private lessons, which continue to be fun and interesting because each student is so unique, presenting me with a different set of abilities, interests and needs.

I have taught music to 1st through 6th graders at St. Andrews Episcopal School in New Orleans, and was chosen Teacher of the Year;I've taught Music Appreciation and Applied Piano at the college level, and served as Director of the Piano Prepatory Dept. at Winthrop University;for several summers I taught at UNC-Greensboro in their Summer Piano Camp.

From 1992-1996, I was on the North Carolina Arts Council Visiting Artist/Artist-in-Schools Roster, as well as that ofSouth Carolina.I have served as Clinician for the North

Carolina Music Teachers Assn., giving performances/lectures in Winston-Salem, Raleigh and Charlotte.I have given recitals in several states across the Southeast, and in the Czech Republik.

My students, from Elementary to Graduating Senior, have won numerous awards/auditions over the years, including scholarships to Winthrop University, Denison College and UNC-Chapel Hill, and the State NCFMC Piano Scholarship.Though I want my students to work hard towards their goals, I also want them to have fun as well. The Halloween Recital, with everyone in costume, is a case in point.Students also look forward to the Thing Test each April, and we sometimes end the year with the infamous Cake Test (where the correct answer is somewhere on the cake – and the icing is home-made!).
