Teaching so students learn how to learn

Philosophy of Teaching
Teaching so students learn how to learn sums up the philosophy of my studio.  When students complete their studies with me, they will have learned to read music fluently providing them with a lifelong skill. Musical and technical concepts are taught using transferable principles so the student learns to understand how to make any music beautiful!

Music "Diet"
I have written several piano books, a technique book and an assignment book which are in use in the studio.
A brand new Classical Collections book is almost finished and will be used in the studio Fall 2005.  This volume is designed to prepare the student for early masterworks.
Students study a variety of styles year round including seasonal, pop and hymns around a core of classical literature. Everyone learns to play in all the keys, to harmonize and transpose in all the keys and do a little improvising using the books I have written.

Every lesson also includes theory, scales and other technical components.

Complexion of Studio
My studio has a mixture of teenagers and adults of all reading levels.  All of them love to play and find practicing rewarding because the assignments are specific and advancement in both reading and musical understanding is noticeable.
