Hi, and thank you for your interest in piano lessons!
I have been teaching for 20 years and am the Executive Director of Charlotte Academy of Music. I received my degree from Converse College's Petrie School of Music, and my students are active participants in the Piano Guild Auditions, NFMC's Junior Festivals, and recitals. They also enjoy performing in assisted living centers, churches, and community programs.
Charlotte Academy of Music students have the opportunity to study piano, guitar, voice, flute, trumpet, violin and many other instruments. In addition, we have a Children's Choir and Chamber Ensemble for various age students. Our state-of-the-art Music Technology Lab makes learning music theory a lot of fun, and our incentive program and adopt-a-composer event keep students motivated and achieving their best all year long. CPTF member, Heather Brunner, is also on faculty at the Academy.
As a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, National Federation of Music Clubs and a professional member of the Charlotte Piano Teachers Forum, my students are eligible for many performance opportunities, classes and scholarships. Past students have been awarded scholarships to the Converse Pre-College of Music and Dance, Anderson College, Winthrop University, Wofford College, and others.
I believe piano lessons should be motivating, exciting and fun! This is why I carefully customize a curriculum for each student based on his/her learning style, musical interest, and goals. Lessons include a well-balanced program of theory, ear-training, sight-reading, history, composition, and performance.
