Margaret Louise Norwood holds the Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from the University of Montevallo and the Master of Music degree in piano performance from the University of Southern California. Postgraduate studies include the Academy of Music in Sion, Switzerland and the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford. She received an Emerging Artist grant from the Arts and Science Council of Charlotte/Mecklenburg, the North Carolina Arts Council and the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation. Ms. Norwood has performed throughout the United States and Europe and has been heard on live radio and television broadcasts.
An active recitalist, collaborative pianist and adjudicator, Ms. Norwood’s teachers have included Hans Heidemann, Marvin Blickenstaff, Adrian Ruiz, Robert Ward, Robert Cowan, Clifton Matthews and Walter Hautzig.
Ms. Norwood maintains an independent piano studio in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is a member of Music Teachers National Association, North Carolina Music Teachers Association, Charlotte Piano Teachers Forum, National Federation of Music Clubs, American College of Musicians—National Guild of Piano Teachers and other professional organizations. She currently serves as president of Charlotte Music Teachers Association and as auditing chairman for Charlotte Piano Teachers Forum.
