Speaker Biography
Picture
Charlotte resident Chad Lawson hit #1 on the Billboard Top Classical Albums with The Chopin Variations in 2014, inspired by the Chopin Etudes.  His recording, “Stay”, debuted in 2020.  Chad has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and NPR’s “All Things Considered”, and you may have heard his music on Lore podcasts, Delta Airlines, or the Vampire Diaries.  Come and learn how Chad is introducing new generations to classical music with contemporary techniques and an emotive signature sound.

Chad Lawson was born in Morganton, North Carolina.  He knew that he wanted to be a musician by the age of five after watching the band Sha Na Na perform on television.  Classically trained as a pianist, during high school, Chad started composing songs and playing piano in a cover band.  After attending the Berklee School of Music, he toured with various ensembles, including the Julio Iglesias’ band.  Chad has released several recordings, reaching the top of the Billboard charts multiple times.
