September 5, 2025: “Getting Started: Round Table Discussions”
Kick off the year with collaborative energy as we host two round tables focused on teaching
strategies, professional development, creative game Ideas for students and time management for
lessons. As well as how to participate and prep for Federation, Forum, and Guild.
October 4, 2024:  “Overview of the New Federation Bulletin”
Alina Rothenberg is the organizer for this program and she will be joined by several Forum teachers
who will discuss and play many of the new pieces from the latest Federation Bulletin. Please bring your
new Federation Bulletin to this meeting, since it will be helpful for making notes.

Click here for the review of Piano Solos from the new National Federation of Music Clubs Festival Bulletin prepared by members of Charlotte Piano Teachers Forum. Thank you to Alina Rothenberg, Susan Lynch, Rita Mabes, Margaret Gallaugher, Eric Hauck, Michael Lehtinen, and Pamela Mullins for studying the new music and sharing recommendations and suggested practice techniques.

November 1, 2024:  “Artistry Through Women Composers”
Pianist and co-founder of the project “Piano Music She Wrote,” Erica Sipes will present a program of
music composed by women from the 1700’s to the 1900’s. In the process, she will share stories about the
various composers and inspire some discussion about why we do not often hear performances of these
pieces, even though they are artistically deserving.
December 6, 2024:  “Artistry Through a Finely Tuned and Well-Maintained Instrument”
Brad Fant will offer tips for successful piano maintenance as well as how to preserve and enhance the
piano learning environments.

To get us all in the Christmas spirit, hospitality chair, Ruthie Pound will provide a lovely Christmas Tea and
Forum members will provide background music of their favorite Christmas arrangements.
January 10, 2025:  “Artistry Through Imaginative Master Class Lessons”
Dr. Matthew Cataldi returns this year to inspire our advanced students as he coaches them through their repertoire and helps them add the element of artistic creativity to enhance their performances.

February 7, 2025:  “Artistry Through a Living Recital”
One of our newest members, Jared Yoakem, will perform a beautiful program of selections including
Bach and Chopin. Following his performance, he will artistically challenge students of all ages in a
master class setting.
March 7, 2025:  “Artistry Through Imitation of the Voice and Sensitive Accompaniment”
Ginger Wyrick, one of our long-time members, who is also a choral director, will help us learn to
“sing” at the piano. She will also discuss how pianists can responsively collaborate with singers and other
instrumentalists.
April 4, 2025:  “Artistry Through Style”
Dr. Paul Nitsch, another of our long-time members, will bring his students and demonstrate how he
takes them from just notes and rhythm to finished, communicative artistry.
