PIANO DAY - March 29th “Why does the world need a Piano Day? For many reasons. But mostly, because it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener.” – Nils Frahm
Piano Day, an annual worldwide event founded by a group of like-minded people, takes place on the 88th day of the year – in 2023, it’s the 29th March – because of the number of keys on the instrument being celebrated. > Official Piano Day Playlist on Spotify |

James Douthit: "Preparing Students for Competitions and Auditions" As teachers, we prepare our students for many types of presentations: recitals, festivals, competitions, auditions, informal performances, and other potential performance opportunities. These opportunities offer our students an opportunity to set performance goals. Competitions and auditions can play an important role in developing more confident performers, offering the opportunities to prepare performance repertoire and receive feedback from other voices. This presentation will focus on preparing students for competitions and auditions and examining the long-term strategies and ideas for the day of the event. With the proper framework, competitions can offer positive experiences for students and teachers. |
Solo Auditions - Congratulations to all members and students who participated in our 55th Annual Solo Auditions! Additional thanks to Chair Rita Mabes and her team of volunteers who made the event the success that it was and to Winthrop University (Dr. Matthew Manwarren, CPTF member) who graciously hosted our event. All winners will be featured at our May meeting on Sunday afternoon, May 7.
